you combine one of R&B's biggest divas --- Mary J Blige and pop opera icon Andre Bocelli and one of my favorite christmas carols. Something really special indeed. I watched this on Oprah just a few minutes ago and the rewound and watched again and then searched on youtube to share with you --- think of it as an early christmas present. The good stuff starts about 1:30 in...

Flash Mob gone crazy...
I like to think the flash mob trend started with our Food Court Musical friends(not true really started by an mag editor in 2003, but not as much fun), long time readers of this blog, all two of you, know I am a huge fan of seeming random and many times humorous events occuring in public places and as such have post videos of some of my favorites over the past couple of years. As of Thursday's Oprah show(I saw some of your rolling your eyes, yes I did, but this one is worth it so get over it) the trend has hit the big time, with 1,000s of people all dancing the same choreographed moves to the Black Eyed Peas. Since this little blog o mine has been tracking the fun for so long now, I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to post the 'main event' along with some vintage 'mob' videos from past posts.

Video Fun
but not the usual kind you find here in Christyn land, but instead one made by me! Today is my first day to host the blog in kraft girl land and I wanted to do something special. The aha moment occurred about 8 am on Sunday...make a video... So, I sat down on Sunday and was determined to master iMovie and while 'master' might be a stretch at this point, I'm pretty happy with the results, happy enough to show off in two places...
This a 'not so' quick tutorial on making lace edges with various border punches. Hope you find it helpful.

80's classic reborn
I know it's been a bit since I showed a video here, just waiting for the perfect one to cross my path. Special thanks to my brother, John, for sending this one my way.

Idol Withdrawal
I know it's been over a week and I really should move on with real life, but thinking about this performance makes me smile a week later, so that must be good for something. Sorry this is about the best quality I could find.
PS...yes Houston I realize I just posted a country artist on my blog, the ends of days must surely be near.

Common Cement
With graduation looming on the horizon and consuming a lot of my time lately, I thought this was the perfect video. Tulane commencement with Ellen...I know this is a little long, but if you've got 10 minutes it's funny in a classic Ellen way and heartwarming at the same time.

I'm Alive
No blog post since Monday, no tweets for 2 days, fear not peeps,I'm ok...just a little busy at work this week and exhausted by the time I get home.
Even though it's not Thursday, I couldn't let the week go without sharing a video...
What thoughts went through your head? What does it mean to you as a parent? as an educator? as a human?

Wanna get away?
With a snow storm looming (or hitting depending on where you are) in the Denver area, you may find yourself wanting to take off in search of real spring weather. Maybe you'll get lucky and have this guy on your flight...
Happy Thursday!
Update: Clearly I wrote this post early in the day...as of 3 pm no one is coming in or out of Denver. Blizzards are fun when you don't have to go anywhere.

Hello!
A quick special shout out to new visitors coming from Lisa's blog...how much do we love her!
And if you're a *fan* of the snuggie video then you won't want to miss this post: Insane in the Membrane featuring Bill Maher in a snuggie.
Still on the snuggie note, I had lunch with the fab Houston today and she asked if I knew that there was such a thing as a snuggie pub crawl. Yes, it's true...check out this news report from Nashville.
And before you dismiss it as a silly southern thing (as I was tempted to do) you should know that there are Snuggie Crawls scheduled in Chicago, NYC and even our own fair Denver. I'll be sure to let you know the date when I find out. Houston tells me you can purchase your very own Snuggie at Staples.

Insane in the membrane
Now you really couldn't expect me to keep a video of Bill Maher in a Snuggie to myself or even wait for the usual Thursday video spot, could you? Of course not...
I have a couple of favorite lines, but 'our booze cruise has hit an iceberg' is resonating on this early Saturday morning.

My grandparents are on You Tube!?!
And really how many 36 year olds do you know who can say that?
Many of you read the article I posted last Saturday and apparently so did a regional television station so they did a story on NanNan and Grandpa and of course in the age of viral marketing posted it on youtube.
While I don't expect to soar to the top of the viral vid chart anytime soon, I thought it would be fun to post here.

Monday Quote
The greatness of art is not to find what is common but what is unique.”
- Isaac Bashevis, Singer
And speaking of unique, I think I had heard this song once or twice on the fab Pandora, but watching it on the Grammy's brought me to a whole new level of appreciation. So much so I went to youtube to watch the video and I can't remember the last time I sought out a music video. I love the 'dancing' it's a perfect fit for this song.
Congrats to Adele for winning best new artist, hope she doesn't suffer the one hit wonder curse.
